Managed to find a soft compound wider tyre that weighed 21lb, rims are 15lb. No clearance problems, though track is now 12mm wider each side.

Wow, that looks nice! I like the bronze/red color combo. The NC brakes will the 17" wheels nicely...

yep, they sure are (thread title amended). I did try 205 tyres on another set of 7.5" wide rims, the contact patch was too small for the rim, with the sidewall bulged out to meet the rim. The Dunlops are Aussie made SP3000A, and fit the rims beautifully. The whole package cost me over AUD$4000 all up, so it's not for the faint hearted...

That's a very handsome combination with ideal dimensions. BTW, what measures did you take to lower your car and what kind of lugnuts are you using?
