My Miata has a stock +40mm offset. (16"). If I am running 205/45/16 A6 Hoosiers but go to a +45mm offset, will I be too close and start rubbing? Would I then need spacers and longer studs to compensate and get back closer to +40?

Yes, oversized Hoosiers may rub to the inside (on control arms, etc.) at 45mm offset and you may need to space those back outward
