Is an aftermarket ECU possible for the NC?

Post by jaball77 »

With the drive-by-wire throttle on the NC, is there a realistic possibility of an aftermarket ECU? It would be nice to be able to raise the redline a bit... 7500rpm would get you to 60 mph in the 6-speed... And it would be nice to eliminate the post-shift "power dip" too...

Side question...anyone know anything about the ECU program the MX-5 Cup cars are using?

Aftermarket ECUs have already been installed on the NC platform. No consumer level ECU kit yet that I know of, but several are in the testing stage.

Vishnu / BEGI have installed the XEDE ecu in a NC-model, with good results...but no retail product announcement as yet...

Check out BEGI's website for what scarce details there are.

The price of the Xcede is nice, but It's my understanding that piggyback units cannot raise rev limits...

Maybe FM will have something eventually...
