I feel changing out the springs is beyond my limited skills. Should I stick to a Mazda dealer, or could I approach any "qualified" suspension shop for the installation? What's a fair hourly estimate on time for completion?
Also, I believe the stop rubbers must be altered for a safe, comfortable ride. What is the best method to do this? Are suspension shops set up to accomplish this?
Lowering springs
The Miata suspension is easy to work on and any decent shop should be able to do the spring change in no more than an hour per corner. Nonetheless, I would find your local club and get a recommendation on the local shops that are good....and which are not. If there is no local Miata club I would check with your local SCCA members and find out where the racers take their cars...
Yes, cutting the bumpstops is something else that any decent shop can do if they have the instructions.
