NC 2nd gear acceleration hesitation

Post by Gary »

I have an 06 NC that has an intermittent slight hesitation when shifting to 2nd gear.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Or does anyone know a cure.
When I took it to the dealer. Of course they couldn't duplicate it. But the reprogrammed the ECU and that seemed to help. It happens less often it seems, but it still happens.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Gary

What you are describing is supposedly built into the ECU, purported to be a driveline saving feature. There are a few posts on this on Miata.net. There is a switch hooked to the clutch that stops this, but it sets off a CEL when you unplug it.

Sprint Booster?

Could it be the throtle response delay associated with electronic drive-by-wire ECM? I read about it in the Flywheel forum. I have found a store on ebay if you want to read more about it. I have heard that the RX-8 is what works on the MX-5.
